Geese Mating Behavior

I kept 6 geese as breeders - 2 Ganders and 4 Geese, today I watched as one Gander mounted the second one in the pool (they both had their male parts exposed).

Question: Is this dominance behavior (please no gay jokes) ? It went on for a few minutes until one of the Ganders left the pool.

you will want to split them up into two trios with separate yards and pools for breeding season or risk poor fertility and broken eggs. This way the ganders bond to their girls and breed them. otherwise you may have a goose not bred at all.

What other options are there - I am only keeping the breeders for my personal use, I am now thinking I should reduce down to one gander and 3 or 4 geese. How many geese can one Embden gander mate with?

1 gander to every 2 geese gives good fertility. You can sometimes get away with 3 geese to 1 gander.
