I was asked to take in some wayward goats and I was wholly unprepared for their insatiable appetite for destruction and chicken food. I tried a few different methods but what the little one can’t get into, the big one can break down.

This tunnel, made using a septic infiltrator, has been the only thing that’s worked so far. And it’s been a dream for a few months now.

These infiltrators are cheap (mine was $30) and are designed to withstand the weight of a vehicle. They come in about 6’ sections and are ventilated. I used rebar to secure it in 4 spots. There is a punchable hole in the top center. I put a tray underneath the hole and pour the food in.

The openings are too large to exclude my Pygmy so I narrowed the opening with t-posts and wire.

The chickens took to the tunnel immediately. The goats try their darndest to get in there everyday to no avail. If you’ve got the space, I highly recommend this method or some similar iteration. Thanks for reading.
