Help Buffalo nats!!

I need some suggestions- How can I keep the Buffalo Nats away??
I have herd that spraying vanilla will help but are there any other ways??

Vanilla spray, skin so soft and fans blowing on your birds have all been reported to help.

cotton balls soaked in extract of vanilla hang on strings and hang strings in several places
in coop.It works why i do not know but i know it works both for buffalo gnats and black flies
