Help! Chick hurt!

I was keeping a hen in a separate pen as the rest of my chickens because I needed to clip her wings and I couldn't catch her In the other pen. So, to keep her company, I put a older chick in their with her. The next day I checked on them and the hen had pecked a huge hole in the chick's neck! I took the hen out right away, and put some Neosporin on the wound. Does anyone have any advice for me so it won't get infected? He is doing better but I just want to be sure. Thanks.

Yes that can happen when two chickens of different ages are put together. I'm glad that you got the chick out of there. The plain neosporin should be fine to help prevent infection. I usually will clean them first with a disinfectant like betadine or Vetericyn. Chicks will heal pretty fast if there is no other damage.
