Help Please

Hi there,
I was up around the chickens afew minutes ago and I heard something going on,
In the pekin chicken coop.
I went over and saw the mother hen and the pekin rooster attacking the grower.
The grower is about 2 months old and he was in with his mom,
Until today when she was running after the grower and pecking it.
I went in and got the grower out and brought him inside,
And put it into an old fish tank with sawdust some food and water.
I have chicken runs that I normally put growers in but this is the only grower I have.
I was wondering should I put the grower into one of the indoor runs,
Because right next door there is a hen with some chicks which are about 1 month old.
Would this be alright for company?
I assume I shouldn't put him back in with the mother.
Why was the mother attacking him?

Hi meg,
No the chick wasn't injured.
He/she is still walking , eating and drinking.

At 2 months she is probably ready to cast him off. Some broodies can be quite brutal about cutting the apron strings and as an only chick, he will not have siblings to hang out with, so he may be more clingy and find it harder to become independent of her. If the pen is not large, this will aggravate the situation and make her more frustrated, resulting in more aggression towards him. Moving him was the right thing to do.
