Help- my hen stopped laying three days ago. She's an every other day layer and has been laying about two weeks. I noticed yesterday she was going in and out of her nesting box and never laying. Then she would lay on the ground. After about an hour she would eat and drink and hang out with the other girls. Today I noticed the same behaviors but she also had egg white material leaking from her vent.
I brought her inside and gave her a warm bath and blew her dry. While blowing her dry a whole bunch of egg white stuff came out of her. I have her crated in the house by a heater( the air conditioner keeps it soooo cold). I also gave her some tums crushed into applesauce which she ate on her own. She is sleeping in the crate now. I also lubed her vent and tried to feel for an egg- nothing. I massaged the area by the vent and she didn't care for that...
Any ideas?
