heritage meet birds Feed?

what do i feed my heritage crosses to get the best result... i did start a little late to ask this but oh well. my birds are 7 weeks old and are just on layer feed.

im getting some other males soon and want to feed them the right way. the breed i have right now are buff orpington crosses

Layer feed is for actively laying birds ONLY. Growing chicks need unlimited access to a grower or starter feed with at least 18% protein content.

well the laying feed is 18%... why cant i feed layer feed

Too much calcium. Not good for birds that aren't utilizing it for eggshell production. It can't be expelled, and will build up in the kidneys, causing eventual failure.
