How do I know if my dog is pregnant?

Hi,
Does anybody know how to tell if a dog is pregnant?

When we bred our male collie with a friend's female, we took the female to the vet to have an ultrasound (we were watching her that week while they were away, and unfortunately she was not pregnant. At four her uterus was underdeveloped so likely she can never have puppies). I'm not sure if there is a way to tell otherwise.

Yes I did she already had her puppies.

Yes I was confused about that too. Don’t get why they would ask how to tell if she’s pregnant if she already had puppies?
