How do I teach chicks how to eat???

Hey all. I had a couple of chicks hatch yesterday, and they won't eat. I've been poking it, and putting a little on my finger and showing to them. They eat a little, then back away and/or run away. How do I teach them how to eat?

They only eat a very small amount at first. Most of the first day is spent sleeping. I always just show the chicks the water when I place them in the brooder. Tap my finger on the food a couple times. Once one chick eats one crumble that is that. The rest will follow it's lead.

Okay. They are going to someone else though, I will make sure to let them know. One hatched almost 1-1/2 days ago the other yesterday. They aren't showing signs of being lethargic.

If they get hungry enough, they will try to eat anything, including the food. Then they will see that it is there for them to eat, not avoid.
