How long to brood quails

5 to 6 weeks. Coturnix start at 95 degrees and the temp is lowered by 5 degrees each week for 5 to 6 weeks.

I put my batch out at 4 weeks with a light for the for a few nights. I culled the roos at 7 weeks. I think the hens will start laying any day.

thanks every one

so far 20 quails have hatched

im so excited

spent all week building the quail pens

so basically same as chicken
although people say lay at 18 weeks is can be anything from 18-22 weeks

so quails its around 8-10 weeks

i will brood them for a minimum of 4 weeks indoors and remove heat after 4 till 6 then let them in to new outdoor quail pen

The main thing to watch for is if they've feathered out, you should be able to catch them stretching their wings to see they have feathers underneath.
It was warm enough when we were brooding ours that I had to cut heat at four weeks to keep them from overheating, but six weeks for them to be able to regulate their body temp before they go outside even if it's warm out is a good idea.
Cheers,
Jessie
