How many duck eggs did you get today?

We've had 7 eggs from 8 ducks for several days in a row now.

I believe this is it - this is the production that we can achieve while the natural environment is favorable.

We're very happy with that. Let's see now to what degree things are different in the autumn and winter.

The days are already noticeably shorter. Whereas in high summer ducks went back into their house at around 9:10 in the evening, they now happily return home at around 8:10. They are then let out at around 7:30 in the morning and we collect warm eggs.

When they come out they are super eager to go for the water and the greens. After all it's been almost 12 hours. I do wonder how this will work in the winter when the dark part of the day can be 14+ hours ...

(Our geographical latitude is 46.6)

The ducks are also eating more - until a week or so ago they would take about 800 g of pellets/grains mix on top of what they forage, it now has to be 1000 g or the bowl is 100% empty and there are some loud ducks gathered around it.
