He doesn't mean to be a bad drake, its just a sign that spring is near in your area and that he gets flooded with hormones. Drakes often get »high« on hormones in their first spring and need a dampener. They calm down with age...It was a surprise because in general he's not aggressive toward people or bossy with hens, he's very much a make love not war guy. He does make A LOT of love - the other hens seem happy about that, but this one, not so much.
Complaining in the forum has worked its magic again! 7 eggs today, new high for this year.We suddenly have 5 instead of 6 eggs daily. I think it's because of a sad love situation. One hen is stressed out because the drake keeps chasing her even when she's not returning the interest. She complains loudly and runs away, even when he's got her by the neck she manages to flee. He's not picky and will totally socialize with others who are more inclined to return his affections but for this one it just doesn't work out.
but yesterday i had 4 !!three.
To my knowledge only Cayuga and Black-Swedish ducks. They start as black in early Spring and become more and lighter gray through the year, like the dux are running out of black ink.O-ho, now we're talking... But who lays black eggs? Cayugas?
