How many have brooded chicks while working full time.

I am a PreK teacher. I leave home at 6:45 am and return usually by 3:30 pm. How many of you have worked full-time and successfully socialized your chicks so that they are easier to handle? I realize the more time spent with them can make a difference, but I am curious if you had success if you worked full time. I am not sure if I want to wait till my summer vacation hits or get them a little sooner.
