How many nesting boxes?

HI!

I have three one month old chicks and am hoping to get supplies this week to start to build their coop! I know people say like one nesting box per four hens or around that number. I was at first planning to have three so each one can have there own! Because if there is one box and and they all want to lay at the same time couldn't they end up breaking eggs or if they lay an egg and there is already an egg in there? I am planning for the whole structure to be four feet wide and eight feet long. How big should a nesting box be? What are the dimensions of your boxes? Thank you all so much!

Are they bantams or standard.

All three of them are standard!

When you build the nesting boxes they need to be about 12x12x12.I would go ahead and build 3 nesting boxes, but they will still probably all use one. I would also build a slanted top for the nesting boxes so they wont sleep/poop on top.

I have always been told 1 box per 4 chickens

You might look at tractor supply premade plastic one, easy to clean, mount to any flat surface. We have 5 of them chickens like them.
