I've actually had my backyard chickens account for 13 years! in that time we moved, had to move the chooks out to my grandma's farm, lost a home to a house fire, lost our entire flock to predators, and lived a sadly chicken less existence.
Happily our city council, after months of discussion at public council meetings, voted to amend the city Animal ordinance to allow chickens! I'm super excited to be able to have chickens in my own backyard again. This winter we'll be planning our coop and run and deciding what breeds we are going to get come spring.
