Hello!
I noticed about a month ago that my buff Brahma hen was getting a bit thin (sharp keel, unkempt feathers, distended crop). Yes, impacted crop. Luckily it hasn’t gotten to sour crop level yet and she does still lay and poop so she’s getting SOME nutrients but, for lack of a better term, she looks like a bag of ass.
I have given her a syringe of warm water and coconut oil and massages the crop and I’ve also fed her soft foods like scrambled eggs and smashed fruit with grit. She seems to get better but the crop never completely empties. Now our routine is: I let her with her flock for a day, she gorges on food, I catch her up in the morning and put her in a dog crate with water and no food for about 24 hours, then release her the following morning where she gorges on food again.
This is not the life of a chicken and I’m not really sure how else I can help her. Here I am, please help if you can!
