The flowers are edible. I like to go and eat them directly from the tree, just a few at a time and savoring each one.

I've read that the seed pods are edible too.

It's an eastern redbud. We have them all over here. I prefer dogwoods, myself.

I have both, they were where i put my flower garden , but i left them there.
