Both of their beaks are a mix of light and dark.only cockerels can have light beaks. but I think both your chicks have black beaks, it is just a pic. (cockerels can have black beaks as well, pullets black only).

My BCM Roos will loose their points from comb- they are mostly black. Funnily enough the two cuckoo marans combs seem unphased by the weather. I have bred a 12 week old CLB ( mix)with a pea comb for just this reason. I hope it stays nice and small. I am hoping he still passes on the auto sexing and blue egg gene - we will see in fall.
I'm going to agree- its a cockerel. I have a 3 week old here- Im sure he's a boy- he has a smaller comb, but his wattles just started the other day. They’re 4 weeks today
Ugh, I guess I’ll post again in a couple weeks. I’m really hoping pullet but all the signs are pointing to cockerel. I guess if it is a cockerel I’ll have to cancel my BCM cockerel order from McMurray. Not that big of a deal.I'm going to agree- its a cockerel. Males tend to have horn colored beaks whereas pullets will have a black beak. It’s not 100% depending on the BCM Line. For what it’s worth I hope I’m wrong. What does the beak have to do with it?

Love spotted eggsFinally up with the flock again and getting to see my Marans eggs in person. The colour is lovely for a first try for the breed.
