Hi All, having visited this site numerous times for help with my chickens (I first found it via a random google search and have visited frequently), I've decided to subscribe and introduce myself. I'm Debs from the UK :frow and I have 6 chickens: Phoebe (top of the pecking order), Clara (one step behind), Gretel, Ruthie, Goldie and Brownie (youngest and lowest in pecking order). They are all cross-breed layer chickens, very friendly, inquisitive and generally good fun. My parents kept backyard hens (small flocks of 4-8) on and off for about 15 years; I took over their flock of 6 last year. They are treasured pets and very much part of the family.

Aside from chickens, I spend most of my free time gardening, hiking, reading, cooking for family get-togethers, keeping dad company, and hanging out with the hens. It's a quiet, rural life but it suits me.

And finally: "what made you finally join our awesome community?" - I admire the way everyone shares knowledge and it seems so friendly, open and unpretentious, seems like a shame not to join in :).
