(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, we are new to chickens. We've thought about it for a while now, but just recently got the courage to do it.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 6 chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Three are Americanas. I can't recall what the other 3 are, though. We wanted both brown egg layers and white layers.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I'm not really sure at this point.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We love gardening and crafts.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are sisters, both retired. We came to live together when her husband became ill and she needed help caring for him. Then, our 92
year old Mother got bad, so I stayed to help with her. I stayed after her passing last year. Between the 2 of us we have 8 children,
12 grandchildren, 2 dogs and 2 cats.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I had some concerns about our chicks, so I googled it. After browsing I came across BYC. It just felt like the place to find help and answers.
