Is Azure Blue a legitimate breed?

If by "actual breed" you mean APA accepted, then no. As to whether they breed true, I unfortunately don't have any knowledge on that. Best of luck finding moreiinformation.

I have 4 that were bought from Freys, grown out to pullet’s and resold.
They look like Leghorns with brown, black or slate spots. I also have 2 brown sex links. The Azures are very flighty and spooky. The shells are a pale blue. At least 2 of them have low quality shells. I personally wouldn’t buy them again the brown sex links in my experience are nicer, calmer, friendly my six birds all eat the same, they are cooped together.
good luck

I'm getting 2 azure blues in September and in doing research on them, I cNt figure out if they are an actual breed of their own, or a hatchery cross. Anyone know?
These are, as far as I can tell, from Hendrix Genetics, not a breed but a strain developed by them.

Another line is the Noirans (dark brown eggs) which is a cross between the Marans and other local French breeds, at the Hendrix R&D facility in France.

They also produce the SASSO lines that are becoming popular in many parts of the world. I was thinking of getting some Azur but now leaning towards the SASSO Irona as they are a dual purpose and chicks from them are feather sexing.

X2 They appear to be a pure strain but I don't think they can qualify as a breed unless there are multiple breeders.

Anyone seen these Azur created by Hendrix Genetics, sold in the US?

I have three of these sweet little Azur Blue pullets. They lay lovely Robin egg blue eggs.

They are not a ‘purebred’ breed but a hybrid of Leghorn x Auracana. They are very social and for ‘factory raised’ birds (I got them as POL) they became very friendly, I can easily pick them up and chit chat with them. This really surprised me as I was sure they would wild as the wind!

This is Twister who decided I need company in my office.

I would say if you are looking for these lovely little hens I would contact Freys Hatchery here in Ontario, Canada and see if they know who else supplies these girls in the US

Also you can contact Hendrix, this link has a link to ‘contact your representative’

Hendrix also have a hybrid Marans called Noirans which lay chocolate brown eggs, I know Freys Hatchery also carry these beauties.

And an Olive layer - think I am gonna need a bigger barn 😊

It seems that Hendrix produces hardy high producing livestock that are suitable for small to medium producers I checked out some of their other animals they have on offer- they don’t just breed poultry 😳
