Is it better to have 2 ducks or 3?

I have a 3 bird limit where i live. I just lost my heart, sweet pete was my other ducks mate. I got her a new female friend to help her along. I just wanted to know if i should get a 3rd? I know ducks are flock oriented social animals so im just not sure what to do. Is 3 too many? They are in a 10x10 enclosure but can free roam. Well. One of then can until i can tane the new female who jumps ridiculously high and came from a not so great farm.

3 would probably be ideal. If something happens to one, you won’t be in a frantic search to find another duck friend.

We have four adults, and 12 ducklings that are perfectly happy together. Id get at least to your allowed limit. Maybe a drake?

Three hens would be perfect...

I would get another female. It would be more eggs, and seeing as you wouldn’t have room for more ducklings there wouldn’t be a need for hatching. Some drakes can get a little rough with only 2 hens.

Either would be fine though!

No...Ducks don't care they like Ducks.

Ducks usually integrate together very well. I don’t think it would be a problem.

Would a runner fit in well? I have an ancona. My original. And then we rescued a muscovy/orpington mix from a really awful farm.

Runners typically like to stick together in their own group.
