I have a 2 yr old Rhode Island Red and sHehas never layed eggs. She has always been very active, a fast runner, and not very friendly. Lately she has slowed down, stays to herself, has an extended abdomin that hangs low and she waddles when she walks. She will let me walk up, pick her up, and actually hold her which is not her norm. I checked her out...clean vent but her belly is very fat and her skin looks like skinned chicken fat. Something just isn’t right but I don’t know what to do.

Could you post a picture of her standing, front, back & side?
Does she free range?
Are you sure she's never laid an egg?
Possibly hiding somewhere? Is she eating, drinking & pooping?
What are you feeding?
Is she the only one you have?

Yes, absolutely she is sick. What’s odd is, it sounds reproductive based on the bloated abdomen, but you say she has never laid? Are you sure she’s not eating the eggs?
Is an avian Vet an option? I wound check that her crop empties overnight and that her breast muscle is in good condition.
Could she have gotten into an oldcompost heap, dirty standing water or something moldy?
