Is s/he male or female?

Hello!

I rescued this beautiful quail named Mila a couple weeks ago, but s/he is the first quail resident at our animal sanctuary. The avian vet thought s/he was a Cortunix quail, so that's what we've been assuming. We are intaking a few more next week so s/he can have friends, but I know males shouldn't be kept together so I wanted to find out for sure whether Mila is a boy or girl.

Looks like a Tibetan, can't really sex those based on feathering, you'll have to vent sex it or listen to the calls it makes.

Okay. S/he hasn't made any calls. Will try vent sexing tomorrow.

Vent sexing is super easy on quail. The male when you press by it's vent kinda foams. I tried it with my two new quail and I could easily see the difference between the two.
