Is something wrong with my rooster or is he just sad?

My red hen, Carmen, died of injuries not too long ago on the morning of November 1st. My rooster who was always by her side kept singing and singing looking for her left and right, up and down, wherever he could get to. Ever since the 2nd, he’s refused to come down from the stick he lays on to sleep, he refuses to eat,drink, and he’s starting to feel lighter. Is there a way I can get him to eat or drink since I don’t think this is very healthy for a chicken. Does anyone have any solutions?

Are you sure your hen wasn't sick before her injuries? Chickens do miss their buddies for a bit, but try taking him down off the perch and offering him some food.

I don’t think she was sick before because she only passed because of my puppy, before that she was acting normal and okay thank you I will make sure to try that.

IMO, best to get him a companion. Chickens are flock animals and may pine away when alone.

Where, in general, are you located? There may be someone on your state thread who has a bird available.
