Hello, I'm new to raising chickens, or i will be, i only just ordered my three chickens today. I think I have read everything there is about taking care of them, but experience always was better than just reading about something. So I was wondering if those of you with experience could help me, with only my book smarts (of what those there is):

There is a tractor on the BYC coops page, the one in the middle, and I was planing on building something pretty close to that. I wanted to make sure that it would be big enough for a silkie, brahma bantam and japanese.

the dimensions of the tractor are:

coop: 36" x 48" 30" tall
run : 36" x 84" (7') 30" tall

the run in the picture is 8ft. long but I dont THINK I need it that big, will 7 ft do?

Thank You

I would think that would be plenty of space for three birds.

Since your run is for a tractor, I'm sure 7 feet will do. If you notice the run getting mucky, you simply move it, as you know. Feather-footed breed like Brahmas tend to scratch and muck the ground a little less, anyway, though.

Are you excited?!!
