Japanese Bantam Thread!

Do your japs roos suffer badly from frostbite abd i try baseline it seemed to make dark weird color the next morning
They’ve not done well to be honest. On the coldest nights they’ve slept in a closet or near the supplemental heat I’ve provided. The tips of their combs are dark but healing, as are the edges of their wattles.

I use a product call “Green Goo” on my chooks wattles and combs in cold weather and I’ve had no problems with frostbite.

So sweet. My boy dodger was laying next to a mixed black bantam while she laid her egg keeping her company. I wish i was able to take a pic:(
My point being:
Jap bantam roos are such little gentlemen :)

Shes gorgeous. Oh my look at that tail for a hen that is soo pretty

Can you guys post pics of some of your babies.. And then now as an adult. I just hatched a couple ones white with black stripe..then black and white underneath (call them skunk and peguin for now due to the patterns) its interesting every other hatchling is white white&black then white underneath Lol

Post pictures of your jap chicks before and now. I have some hatchlings from my mottled japs. Interested to see what I have in store

First pic is of the Dad.
Then the other is of the chicks

I believe I got a Blackstailed Buff Japanese bantam by accident. Can y'all confirm? It's a far cry from the red star she was supposed to be, but Heady's a firecracker and my new favorite bird. Got it from a feed store and it's an Ideal bird. It's one of their clean leg bantams (bantams and red stars were in the same bin). She ain't afraid of the big girls like the other pullets. Don't think she'll be bullied. Seems too cool to be. She's almost 6 wks old.

Looks like a rose comb Nankins in a similar color as the btb Jap. Her body shape, leg color and comb type don’t look correct to be a Japanese.
This is my btb pullet from Ideal stock at a few months old.

Looks like you may be correct. Leg color and comb would obviously eliminate the Japanese bbt. Thanks so much. This is the 4th species of chicken I'm led to believe she may be. We'll see! Thx
