Hi! Our run is so muddy and flooded from all this Texas rain. The only stuff feed stores have is lava sand. Is this acceptable to use either for dust bath, or coop ground covering for the time being?

I live near a volcano and I don't use it for chickens. Any material ejected by a volcano may contains fragments less than 2 mm in diameter (ash). It consists of freshly ejected lava usually turned into a glass shard because of rapid cooling. It may cause respiratory issues and skin irritations.

Sand won't help much with mud.
Fix any drainage issues, then use coarse woods chippings.
