I just noticed today that my hen is limping, her leg is warm to the touch and her foot is swollen. I can’t see anything that would be causing her pain. I moved her toes, her foot, and her other joints in her leg and she didn’t flinch. Somebody mentioned possible bumble foot due to the black spot on her toe, I thought bumble foot was only on the bottom.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this? Any recommendations on how to treat her? I got her from Murray McMurray and she was vaccinated for Mareks (which someone else mentioned might be a cause) - but that wouldn’t make her leg feel warm.

Thanks everyone!!

The most common reason for this is leg mites or other small parasites. You should definitely get this parasite treatment that I got for my chickens. It works well. It’s a bit expensive but it does the job! You can find it on Amazon. The name is: Verm-x Liquid Poultry & Fowl internal parasite. It’s the best treatment I’ve tried for Chickens. Hope your chick gets better! Good luck :)
