The cockerel on the left doesn’t have the silver gene, those white feathers are part of a juvenile pattern that will disappear as he grows.Crazy means I don't understand poultry genetics at all, and will keep (because I have lots of black birds, and birds with obvious blue gene that need to be culled first) - but that they clearly have traits I don't want, as well.
/edit Also, crazy on the left has a pattern that, in spite of the the silver gene (or perhaps because of), disappears real well on my property. Unfortunately breeding a s/g with another s/g doesn't give be a consistent bird, so doesn't advance my goals - however intersting it is as a "wrong way".
LUCKY bird! The cockerel on the left doesn’t have the silver gene, those white feathers are part of a juvenile pattern that will disappear as he grows.
Is that one now labeled a Keep?LUCKY bird!
See, I *did* mention I don't understand poultry genetics.
