How common is it for chickens to get Marek‘s? Thankfully I haven’t dealt with it but do you recommend taking precautions for it?

You might want to fix your title. Click on "report" and ask the mods to change the word if you can't figure it out.

Marek's can be prevented by vaccination, although it's still possible for a vaccinated bird to get it, though it's not as bad as unvaxed.

The best way to prevent Marek's is to avoid wearing the same shoes you usually wear in your chicken yard out to do your shopping, especially feed stores and farm stores. Virus particles last months on store floors and can be brought home on your shoes.

Another is not to adopt adult chickens that may be carrying the disease. Add only baby chicks from a reputable hatchery.

Last, if anyone who keeps chickens wants to come visit, ask them not to wear the same shoes they wear in their chicken yard so any virus particles aren't tracked into your facility.
