Had 8 local eggs go into lock down, 7 Have pipped. Originally had 12, but had 2 clears, 1 blood ring, 1 random quit between day 7-9 (didn't eggtopsy that one). Not bad over all.

Well so i guess opening the bator on hatch day by my daughter was bad. It dropped the humidity to less than 40% according to the puc she sent me of the chicks that were hatching. Something in there was smelling awful. So I got the chicks out quick.but all the ones that had been trying to hatch were having a hard time alrhough the humidity was back up the membrane was so tough and stuck they couldnt turn to zip i guess they would just keep pecking at the same hole. It would get bigger then i see that their feathers were dry in the shell. I helped peel the little silkie out no yolk and already almost fluffy. Then 2 AC did almost the same thing when i can see dry feathers poking out of the big pip hole i thought uh oh something is not right. I went ahead and candled 5 were still alive. It is day 22. 3 hatched with some minor assist. The other 2 no pip at all. Then no movement from the sizzle egg i checked again it had been 12 hrs. No movement it is DIS. I did 11 eggtopsies

. 2 were upside down yolk sack present and huge. Looks like they died about day 19. 3 others small yolk but tough membrane i think they just couldnt pip it internally. The other 6 no visiable yolk.ans the membrane was stuck to them. The last 2 wouldnt have died if i had helped sooner. Man this can be hard on your heart. But i have bunch of fluffy puff balls running around the brooder. 2 still drying in the incubator. Ill have to do a head count to see how many I have of each.

My Bielefelder eggs are on the way! Should be officially joining soon. It's gonna be a challenge with this broody cause her nest is not very accessible. Might not be able to candle. The whole time I'll just be crossing my fingers that there won't be exploding eggs or predator attacks!

Papa's Poultry usually sends some extras so I will probably stick a few eggs in the incubator too. I'll make sure to bleach it this time so hopefully I won't have any chicks with omphalitis like last time.

Good plan! LOL

Sorry!!! Lol

Here we don't have gator to eat. But Rocky mountain oysters are popular. There are even testicle festivals in some of the smaller towns during branding season. Have eaten bear, elk, deer, antelope, rabbit, goat, sheep, snake, and all the regular stuff, and crawdads I caught in a reservoir, and whatever fish are big enough. Neighbor has a Jersey cow so there's fresh milk for the kids. Folks raise red Angus so fat steaks for special occasions. And we have some of the best microbreweies around. Viva beer

Wow! You've eaten a lot of stuff!! I've actually heard of people eating bull testicles and whatnot and all I could think is EWWW. Same for tongue and such but especially testicles. I'd like to try the rest though.

Cover those oysters in caramel!

If you're going to cover the snake, you may as well cover the oysters too!

This is true.

Best part of the day is when threads like these go completely off-the-rails off topic! :D

That's a certain part of the day?!

I lost track of quoting lol but this thread has definitely gotten fun!

Oh and btw oysters are really big here too. We have Island Creek Oysters right in town
