There would be 10 but one was lost sometime in the early morning hours. It was half zipped, but died in its shell. It had already passed when I woke up this morning. Not sure why it died. It wasn't sticky or mushy or anything out of the ordinary. So, I don't know what happen. Even with that sad discovery there are still nine chicks running around the incubator and 3 more pipped/trying to hatch.

Congrats on the ones that hatched. Sorry to hear about the one who didn't make it. Sometimes they just aren't strong enough.

They're lovely, sorry about your lost one. I had one get up once and then just fall over dead it was the first one we ever had die in the incubator and I was so upset I had no idea why either :( sorry :( hugs. Love the cute pictures

Day 22, I came into 10 chicks (two BCMXBO, the other seven are either FBCM or OE) I moved the ten out of the incubator because it was so crowded I couldn't even see the other eggs, I'm hoping the humidity wasn't compromised too badly. Now that I've move the ten I can see at least three of the other seven eggs have pips.

Congratulations!!

Impatiently awaiting my Dorkings and Silkies to hatch. It is day 20 and not a pip in site. I realize that seems crazy, but my last two hatches started on day 19 so I assumed my bator ran warmer (always says 99.5 or 100) so now I am like "wth?". I know they are alive and well bc I candled 2 before lockdown yesterday and they were moving and grooving. One had a fairly large air cell, but was moving around. Didn't candle the others since I didn't want to disturb them this close to hatch. Have 13 dorking eggs and 2 random silkies that my friend was going to toss since she didn't want and I said what the heck...might as well try. (not that I need more silkie chicks...I have 14 babies right now and only want to keep 3-4 of the females if I can ever sex them!)
Good Luck

What breed is she incubating?

Easter Eggers.

The dad. He has a single copy of barring, is silver, but carries a red/gold gene.

The biological mom is the pullet on the left. She's red/gold under that extended black.
Should produce quite a variety of colors. And I'm hoping for some really good muffs on these chicks.
