Hi,

My 3.5 year old (pet) hens are going through a hard molt now, and have all but stopped eating. One is especially thin and I'm worried about her. She will eat half a scrambled egg and some oats, also forages when outside but no solid poops for 1-2 weeks, maybe longer. She has poops that are just water, and if she has eaten grass, it passes right through. I have treated with them all with Safeguard and now CORID, with no improvement. Is there anything I can do to help keep her going? How much scrambled egg is too much? If she wants to eat oats, should I free feed them to her? Vitamins in the water? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Try just egg and watery chicken feed, not oats. It will soften into a mush.Oats are not good by themselves. You can give a spoonful in a bowl of chicken feed. Add water to make it mushy, and refresh the water as needed. Give her some probiotics. Probios powder or the generic from your feed store is good. Here is some info why large amounts of oats are not food for chickens:

Thank you so much! I'll give it a try! I appreciate the info on oats as well.
