Hi,

I have a silkie chick whose eyes are always closed. I separated her from the rest of the flock, have her poultry Rx in her water and am giving her yolk, starter feed and polyvitamins. She's able to eat on her own. I've been making sure she drinks. There's no visible sign to why her eyes are always closed. At some point her eyes were open. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks

Hello! How is your Little doing? Are her eyes crusted shut or is she always lethargic? If they are crusted shut there might be an infection and you can try teramyacin ointment - you’ll have to carefully peel the eyes open and put a little of the ointment in. Do this once or twice a day and it should help (unless there is something more serious going on). Hoping you Little is still hanging on. Good luck!

Thanks for getting back to me. There's no irritation she just won't open them but is perfectly healthy and happy otherwise. I rehomed her to someone who had another silkie the same age.
