My biggest deterrent to weeding is..

The heat? Noooo not the heat, I can get cool.

Risk of sunburn? Noooo again, I have shares in sunscreen companies.

The rain? Heck no, love weeding in the rain! Not that we're getting much..

It's the deerflies.

*pauses, takes a deep breath*

They frustrate me SO!! I don't do chemical ANYTHING but I've resorted to Muskol!! I'm out there all sweaty and knees killing but thinking man, I can do this forever. Then I'll get a darn fly buzzing around my head and biting me from my ankles to ears! We can't go outside without a hat on for fear of them eating us alive! When we walk the dogs there must be 20 of the things buzzing around the poor dogs.

I end up chopping down plants because I'm slapping and stomping and waving, all to no avail.

ARGH!! I HATE DEERFLIES!!!!

MULCH!!! If you much heavily around each plant, you don't really need to weed! I use straw that has been 'prepped' by my ducks. makes great mulch, and i refuse to weed!
