My chicks are eating fabric scraps

my chicks are eating the teeny scraps of fabric and thread from the floor... will this hurt them? I try to get it away from them whenever possible, but they seem to want to eat everything! they are a week old today...

It is not good for them, for sure. They can get those little strings wrapped around their tongue, leg, or any other body part and cause amputation, or at the least, will cut off the blood supply.

they are actually consuming them... these pieces of fabric I'm sure look like little worms.. they are about 1/8 of an inch by maybe 1.5" in length...small pieces... they are just so dang fast!
