My first chickens arrived on Thursday. They are 5 months old.
2 Orpington, 1 Marans and a superb Marans rooster, named Majesty (the girls bear the names of Louis XIV's favorites )
The Blue Laced Gold Wyandotte will join the family in June.

welcome to BYC! Beautiful flock. Are you adding just one wyandotte? You need to add more then one chicken so it doesn’t get overly bullied or badly hurt. Also you may need more than four hens for one rooster depending on how active they are. Usually marans roosters need more than 7 hens (I recommend 7-11 hens per marans rooster)

We will get the Wyandotte with another one. Probably a Faverolles. (But the breeder told me that the marans rooster will "discipline" his laydies and prevent them from harassing the new hens)

I would like to have a small flock to start with in order to keep 3 or 4 chicks later.
