With recent weather changes and my flock growing from 12 to 18 l haven't had an issues until today, went out to do my normal egg check for the morning, my girls like laying in an odd corner so I opened the door and found one of my New Hampshires laying flat. She was cold when I found her. I don’t know what killed her. Our coop can how 24 birds so I'm sure it wasn't crowding, but I am wondering if she got a chill/ or got an egg back up.

Could that have killed her?

I have 2 pictures of her dead form that I can share if needed. Just need some advice and too feel better .

So sorry for your loss. Where do you live? I ask because some states do free or low-cost necropsies.

If she died from being eggbound, you should be able to feel the egg.

I’m sorry for your loss. Check the rest of the flock to see if others are in any kind of distress. Sometimes, it just happens and could be any of a number of issues. Great advice from @casportpony. I wish you the best with your flock.
