Okay, I have a plan to go pick up a couple new laying hens this weekend. My plan is dual purpose - to add a new breed to the flock, and to get some birds that are already laying because I'm so darn impatient!

I currently have (27) 13 week old birds - a variety of SLW, BO, and light brahmas.

I am planning on getting 2-3 Iza Browns.

How do I integrate them?

And also, what can you tell me about the Iza Brown breed?

Thanks!

They should be kept apart for awhile to make sure the new ones don't have any diseases to share.
Then, keep them close to the others, but not in the same pen, so they can see each other for several days.

Some say put them together on the roost at night and they should be fine. Never worked for me, I just put them together and then kept an eye on them to make sure there is no serious fighting, blood, etc. Some pecking and fighting is normal to set up the pecking order.

Good Luck.

Sorry I don't know anything about Isa Browns.
