My coop height/design is less than ideal but for now, it’s what I’ve got to work with.

The problem is anytime they get the idea in their heads, my chickens can hop up the 4 feet on top of the internal run or low side of the coop roof, walk over, then hop down into the rest of the yard. That’s less than desirable especially while I’m not home.

Any ideas you can figure from the pictures below on how to put a stop to this? All I need is an extra foot since they have never hopped the 5ft putter fence.

To state the obvious, you need something to prevent them from landing on top of the run fencing and the coop. They may not be able to fly over in one swoop without landing on top first.

For the run, running anything floppy or unstable along the top may deter them, maybe even something as simple as a loosely strung wire. The coop will probably need something more elaborate, such as the netting mentioned above.
