just wanted to say hello to all yous!

i am a new member to the forum and fairly new at raising our girls.
we got them in june of this year and 2 of them have starting laying,
just last week actually! since tuesday we've gotten 4 eggs... yay!

we (me, my boyfriend and his 10 yr old son) have a flock of 5 crazy but absolutely lovely chickens, all a bit weird and different in breed. we love them and try to keep them as
happy as possible! what a thrill, i must say!

i hope to hear and learn all sorts of awesome chicken stories!

i will post some pics of our girls soon.

cheers!

Welcome to BYC. There are a few people from NM on the forum, hopefully they will see your post and chime in.

Howdy neighbor!

I work in Albuquerque and live in Valencia County where I have 20 chickens that are two months old - an assortment from Ideal Poultry. I'm still trying to figure out which breeds may be reppresented in the flock. I have at least one rooster - he just started to crow!

We are also raising rabbits. I'm interested in local food in general, farmers' markets, CSA, etc.

THe 20 younsters are my first chickens, but my boyfriend's parents keep chickens and rabbits - so, naturally, he thinks he's an expert.

BYC has been a very helpful and interesting source of information and ideas.

You may want to check out a long string of messages from and about New Mexico - I found it by using "New Mexico" as a search term.

Best wishes,

J
