Welcome from another Floridan. Building acoop doesnt have to be expensive Check freecycle.com or check around for free pallets. You would be surprised what you can build from pallets. You can also post on Craigslist.org under wanted free stuff. You would be surprised what you can get. Most breeds do well here I have many differnet breeds (some 100+ chickens) I have never had any problems concerning the heat.
