Options to Clean Duck Pond

Hello, I’m finishing up my haphazard pond I decided to make for my ducks. I’m trying to figure out different filtration systems for my pond. There is not a nearby source of electricity , and I can’t seem to find a solar pump online, so I’m afraid a traditional pump/filter system may not be an option. I’ve read some on using Barley. Can I just use a combination of Barley, snails and plants to kill off algae and muck? Is a pump necessary? Could I eat plants grown in the pond? A duckponics system sounds dreamy, but, again, no pump.

Ducks and clean simply don't go together. I'd think adding plants and snails would be your best bet if a filter isn't an option.

I haven't tried it, but I'm inspired by natural swimming pools. He uses air for an underground gravel and plant filter like what you'd use in an aquarium. In theory you could run a long air hose from the electricity source.

We’ll I found a solar aerator. That might be a good option for circulation. I’m going to try lots of plant cover too

I've yet to find a reliable DC water pump that can handle the suspended solids generated in duckwater. An option you could go is a solar battery bank with an inverter to convert DC to AC and running a low wattage pump.
