Pekin Duck Club!

My understanding is that technically, yes they can be trained to use nipple waterers.  Seems to me, though, that since they cannot rinse their heads with them, you need head washers also.  Perhaps the nipple waterers splash less than other types, I don't know.  I have found having a watering platform or watering station resolves wet bedding.

What might be another reason to use nipple waterers than to reduce spillage?

That was my only reason. When you say watering platform...can you explain? So far their bedding is always wet and poopy. Have changed it twice a day for the last week. Also with it getting warm...finally...whats the earliest I can put then in their new house?

Have I shared these with you? I share them often, so please bear with me if I don't recall.

You have a beautiful pair there!

I know ducks need enough water to rinse out nostrils so I planned to have a pool or at least small dish of water. Can ducks use nipple waterers for drinking water purposes? I'm a touch confused on the whole water thing. Help!!!
I use nipple waterers with our ducks so they always have a clean source of water. Actually that's all I use in the brooder but I put them in the tub daily to wash their eyes and nostrils. Once out of the brooder I still use the nipple waterer and this:

We got 1 Pekin and 2 Welsh Harlequin ducklings on Wednesday. We love them. Our Pekin we named Pickles is by far our most relaxed duckling. He loves everyone and everything. I sure hope his/her easy going nature stays! Here is a picture of Pickles and our Cat snuggling.

That is adorable... Congrats on your new littles.

We found a local Facebook page called cape cod homesteaders and got some fertile eggs and hatched our own... I'm sure there is a local farm near you :) we were surprised to find how many people raise poultry and water fowl as a hobby.

Tractor Supply Store. I got 10 last Spring and tried to keep them in the Bathroom but My Husband would not allow it past the first two weeks and it was still cold out and he had to go buy them a hutch and yard and a chainlink fence Doggie Kennel. He came home and told me my 10 at 1.99 a piece ducks cost over $500. I could not put them out as the current in our creeks would have sweep them away and it was still cold up in Dem Dar hills. Could not keep them inside anylonger and ended up giving them away. Long story short, whoops too late, I saw them again this Spring at Tractor Supply Store and yes they too were on sale again. Each Tractor Supply Store does not carry the same chicks or ducks. They have good layers for sale. They may not win a prize for the best in show but they are great layers to feed your family or those chickens and ducks you want to become best in show.
