So, I have two Prairie Blue Bell Eggers that I got from RK, who gets their chicks from Hoover's. One lays a blue egg but i was bummed to have the other lay a blue-green egg:( So I think on here and on a blog from Silver Homestead that although rare, they can when they first start laying have a brownish overlay that makes the egg look greenish. And that it can take 10 eggs before the bloom is clear. And it happened, so I document it with pictures for anyone else that experiences this unique occurrence.

The camera didn't accurately show how blue they became but you get the gist.

Prairie Blue Bell is a hybrid, may say blue eggs but they are a "mix" of Americana & Leghorn but TSC could have gotten chicks mixed in the bins.

I got an EE from TSC/Hoover last year from a friend did not like its "looks" after it feathered out. It developed a tuff and looked more like a Legbar than anything and lays a 2.3 - 2.5 oz brown egg 5 days a week. Also learned they breed 2 hybrids ... Recommend researching their site.

The Hoover's PBE link says it's a hybrid of Araucana x White Leghorn.

@MishMash7 - are they both laying blue now? Supposedly it's a lighter blue than a Ameraucana or Legbar

All blue egg layers eggs get lighter as they continue to lay for that year. After they molt and start back up they will be darker again.
