Not sure if the full color is in the picture but it is pink and not pale, which is what got me wonderingI think you are safe with the black one. A small, pale comb like that at 8.5 weeks is pretty definitive.

It looks pretty pale in the photo. A touch of pink is not worrisome to me. Anyway, my opinion is that it's a pullet but only time will tell for sure.Not sure if the full color is in the picture but it is pink and not pale, which is what got me wondering
Thanks! I knew they were on the younger side to be sure. My big concern was the Brahma since she is 16 weeks and I was pretty confident with her then she started standing more upright and her comb started getting pink (still not red) which seemed early for a Brahma getting closer to laying.It looks pretty pale in the photo. By 16 weeks there would in all probability be male specific feathering if it was a cockerel. No other signs of it being a male, either.Thanks! I knew they were on the younger side to be sure.
