My button quails have been making a "meep meep meep meep" noise, and I am wondering what this could signify?

How old are they? How many do you have? do you know if they are male or female?

We just bought 2, they are only a couple of weeks old and were unsexed when we got them. We have had them for about a week and have not been showing any signs of aggression towards each other, so we figured they are most likely male and female. Thanks in advance for any help.

Not necessarily, buttons an be happy with all males or all females, when the ratio changes to more males than females you will have conflict. Could be a pair but isn't very likely with a straight run.
