I discovered at age 33 that I dislike being called, "Sal." My name is Sally, and I much prefer that.

That said... I think it's... ok. I wouldn't have passed it on to a daughter. I asked my mom why she didn't name me after her mom. She wasn't overly fond of her mom's first name, Eva, for a little girl. What about her middle name, Fern?

Pair Fern with my last name... uh, no. Hard no.

And my paternal grandmother, Henrietta? :sick I look like her, and that's fine.

Yeah, I guess. Emily is common, but it’s nice and it’s easy for people to spell and pronounce. Surprisingly, I have not actually met very many Emilys in my area, so I guess it’s kind of unique too. That being said, it’s on the top ten list that comes up when you google “common girl names”
