Roses and chickens

So I read that chickens won't eat "knock out" roses...well today I found out different...they snipped off the rose buds even and ate those. It looked like they used scissors....I'm assuming when the bushes grow bigger, they can't reach the roses but not sure...Any suggestions for making an enclosure for the roses until then?

Well I think the will also start digging at the roots. Chickens look beautiful on a manicured yard, but they are very hard on landscaping plants. Pen them in or the flowers out.

I put the rosebush inside their fence LOL because I am trying to populate their yard with different bushes and grasses. But I also let them come into the upper back yard and I have a rose bush there...so I guess I will have to make something decorative to go around the rose bush until the roses are too tall for them to reach.
